It’s the start of a new month, a new year, a new decade. It sort of passed me by that it was the start of the twenties, to be honest.

I guess I’ve been busy recently – a familiar refrain I know – and the 10-year milestone wasn’t really in the forefront of my mind. When you think about it, you only live in what? Seven, eight, nine different decades in your life?

But I haven’t thought about how things have changed in 10 years. Actually, I kind of am now for the first time while writing this.

I’m guessing most of us have a similar tale to tell. We are all getting older, we have probably all lost someone, we have had circumstances change in both our work and personal lives. Some things have changed for the better, some for the worse.

Personally, My daughter was only two a decade ago. Now she is on the cusp of being a teenager. It’s a big change. I was married 10 years ago, now I’m with someone else.

Back then I was a stay-at-home dad who earned some money here and there, now I’m a writer who earns some money here and there. I owned a house in New Orleans, now I own a different house in New Orleans. Back then I was 40, now I’m 50. I believe that’s how time works.

So yeah, the more things change, the more… etc, right? Here’s to the next 10 years.
