It was! In Ireland! Kinda…

I’m just back from 10 days visiting the Olde Country. I went to see my friends for a weekend in Galway, then travelled up north to stay with my family for a week. Here’s the thing – it didn’t rain once! Can you believe it! Almost into October, and even better, some days I wore shorts!

Now it was very grey some days. Well, most days. Very, very grey most of the time if I’m honest. But still, better than I hoped it would be. Better than I remembered it being. And for that I’m grateful.

It’s always good to get back home and see your family and friends again, reconnect with everyone and everything, see and enjoy how much Belfast has changed. It’s a modern, vibrant cosmopolitan European city now. When I was growing up it was a bombed-out drab, depressing place for a lot of the seventies and eighties.

Now I’m back to the heat and sun of New Orleans, but in the period I was away it does feel like Fall has arrived. It’s a little bit cooler. Sorta. Kinda.

And now I’m back to working at my daughter’s school and teaching my writing classes and doing everything else that keeps me busy and keeps the wolf from the door. Same old, same old, right?

But Blair – no house painting this month. Maybe next.

Cya later alligator…
