It’s hard to believe the summer is almost over. Well, I say that, but it’s still a million degrees out here.

I still have not got used to the fact that the schools here go back so early. Some of them are back already – the start of August – when it is a sizzling, sweltering summer and slap bang in the middle of hurricane season. Back home we did not go back to school until September.

Not that I am complaining at all. The sooner they are back the better as far as I’m concerned. Our daughter has been playing up a bit lately – cheeky, disrespectful – and I’m sure part of that is due to the lack of structure in her life. She misses her friends I think, and I think that she will be glad to get back to the classroom. That’s what I’m telling myself anyway!

It has been a busy old time. After the World Cup I had a tough, taxing coaching course that took three days, then we went to Mexico for five nights on a cruise. After that it was straight back to a week of soccer camp, I’m still teaching in Covington and getting ready for school to start back. And new teaching classes. And the soccer preseason training. And whatever else comes my way. As I head out on the highway (or something, as a man once sang…).

Anyway, no storms so far this season. Lots going on. And a good season about to start – the next English football campaign. Thank God.

So busy, busy, busy. It was ever thus.

Stay safe y’all.
