I missed another month. I’m getting slack in my old age.

I usually write a piece every month, and in the more than four years since this website was setup, I think I’ve only missed a handful. Somehow I did it in May though.

No real excuse either, no more than what I normally say. I think there must have been a breakdown in my very technical, highly evolved reminder system. That is: I write a note every month on my cartoon wall calender. Like I said, I’m getting old.

In my defence, I did have a busy month though. No change there then, right? And I was in a car crash.

I was on my way to graduation at my daughter’s school, which was going to be the first American one I’d every visited. So of course I was looking forward to it, and of course I was t-boned by an Asian guy delivering food for a Chinese restaurant who went through a stop sign. What a way to spend a Friday night – all dressed up in a suit, sweltering in the heat, standing on a street corner waiting for the police to show. Three-and-a-half hours I waited. When they eventually appeared, they said that it was a civil matter and nothing to do with them. Wonderful.

Anyway, it could have been worse. I was not too badly injured, the car was not too badly damaged, and the other driver was insured and admitted liability. I’m thankful for that, despite my ruined evening.

In other news, I went to Gulfport to see The Offspring, Shinedown and AWOL Nation and had a great time, despite the rain. And I went to St Louis and New York to see Chelsea play Manchester City and had another great time, despite losing both matches.

Then at the start of June I went to Canada for a week and West Virginia for a week. Then I started teaching a summer class.

So yeah, I’ve been busy. But no excuse. I’ll be back on track next month I promise, hand on heart. Probably…
